When I began using Charlie as a personal trainer, I was recovering from a knee problem which created certain exercise limitations and potential for knee pain. I was skeptical about my potential to see results through training, and honest about my lifelong hatred of exercise and love of chocolate. After gaining the notorious "Freshman 15" during my first year of college, I resorted to weight loss products and crash diets. However, when I started training with Charlie, he provided me with nutritional suggestions and effective workouts. I would recommend Charlie's Boot Camp to anyone wanting to feel better about themselves! His class allows you to work at your own pace pushing as far as you feel comfortable. A couple of days later, you are sore but you feel rejuvenated and energized and eager to get back to class again! I've been working out for over 20 years and although I've seen results from running, weight training, and yoga, Charlie's boot camp brings the results to a completely different level. Over the past few months I've seen my body shape change (all my jeans are now loose!) and my arms, legs, stomach, and hips are much more toned. My goal was simple.  I wanted to gain functional strength, increase balance and tone muscle. In 3 months I achieved those goals and more!  Charlie is a terrific trainer who is consistently supportive.  During a group class he seamlessly manages to challenge the advanced while never minimizing the needs of newcomers.  Irrespective of your fitness level, Charlie has just the right adaptations.  Without a doubt I train much harder than I ever have on my own.  Yet, I’m having the best time!  Charlie seems to draw only the nicest clients so we’re all having fun while getting in shape.  Lastly, Charlie teaches the class so much about nutrition.  This enables us to combine both fitness and healthy eating for optimum results.  Thank you Charlie!

I first called Charlie for two reasons. One, I had chronic neck and shoulder pain that would often plague me for months at a time, putting an end to my workouts and any progress I had been making at the time. And secondly, because I had, in the last year or two, been carrying around that “mid-life middle” that torments so many women of a “certain age.” I had started to believe there was nothing I could do about that, as all the books and magazines told me, it was the hormones and a slowing metabolism. Skeptically, I decided to give it a shot.
 
After only a few months I have to say that I am down 12 pounds and my mushy middle is gone. I’ve gone down a pants size, although I’m thinking of returning my new size 6’s because they are too big. What’s more, I’ve been working out pain free, I’m not worried about throwing out my shoulder doing simple tasks and my posture is better.
 
Charlie is the most focused personal trainer I’ve ever worked with. He asks you to set a goal and then does everything in his power to get you to it. But he will not kill you. His workouts are tough, getting gradually harder as you get stronger, but his interest is in getting you to your goal in a healthy way. Always mindful of preventing injuries, he creates a plan that works with your life. We talk about nutrition, a subject I originally fought him on while he patiently waited for me to see the light. And we talk about the biggest obstacle most people have to achieving health and fitness: our own heads.
 
Charlie knows a million exercises, but to him that’s not enough. He spends countless hours researching exercise physiology and philosophies, nutrition and health. If your elbow hurts one week, he’ll come back next week sighting five studies on elbow injuries.
 
Having surpassed my goals, I now need to decide on a new one. Oh, I’m not done. As Charlie says, we are all a work in progress. But I’m turning fifty in a few months and planning to hike the Grand Tetons on my birthday. Thanks to Charlie, I think I’ll make it to the top. Now all I need is a new pair of size four hiking shorts.

In the past, I've stayed in shape by spending 2 hours at the gym/3 times a week - an hour class for cardio and another hour class for weight training.  What I like about Boot Camp is I can get the same results in 45 minutes/3 times a week. I also feel like I challenge myself more in Boot Camp.  Recently, I took 2 months off this summer and of course, I noticed that my clothes were tight and that I

felt sluggish.  Now, thanks to my Boot Camp classes, I have more energy and I have lost 3 pounds!   I am motivated to continue to see results!

I have been working with Charlie (on and off) for almost three years.  I started on a 1-1 basis and then more recently became involved in his boot camps.  Charlie has helped me tremendously in both capacities.  I never developed a love for working out, but when I hit my 40’s it was clear I had to do something.  Charlie has shown me how to work out in a typical health club setting as well as with limited equipment which allows me to have the ability to train at home and on the road.  I used to think that unless you had about an hour to spend on working out it wasn’t going to be effective.  I now know, thanks to Charlie, how to make the most out of a workout if you find yourself short on time.  The boot camps are enjoyable to me because it offers an opportunity to work out with other people and the work outs have variety.  When you leave a boot camp session you have done both strength training and cardio.  You really feel good.
